iPad dies at 50% battery. Comes back on at high percentage.

The iPad Pro (ios 13.4.1) will show normal lowering power level, but when it reaches a random percentage, somewhere are around 50%, it dies saying the battery is dead. Give it a minute and then restart it. It comes up and says it has lots of battery left, but then dies in a minute once again.

Both my iPhone and iPad are doing this. Both are about 3-4 years old.

After trying updates, restarting, etc., I finally wiped them clean and restored them with everything up to date. The iPhone seems to behave better but the iPad still does exactly the same thing. The battery level was 60% and the thing died and wouldn't restart until you charged it.

This is beyond frustrating.

Your 2017 iPad Pro seems to be experiencing a failing battery for some inexplicable reason.

The battery in that iPad model is NOT that old, but all your indicators point to a failing battery.

I suggest contacting/reaching out to Apple Product support and services on this issue.

The behaviour you describe is reminiscent of a failed (or failing battery). That said, whilst not unknown, you would be very unlucky to suffer simultaneous battery failure of both your iPad and iPhone.

Perhaps you best route forward would be to directly contact Apple Support - and request a remote battery diagnostic. This will either confirm a battery issue - or eliminate the possibility. The Apple Support Agents may be able to offer suitable advice based upon their findings.
