Connecting iPad to Monitor

I am trying to use my 27" monitor with my iPad. When I hook it up using the Apple lightning HDMI AV adapter the visual works fine but audio dies immediately. How do you get sound so I can watch on the larger screen. Monitor is an HP 27" E273, new.

Note: the monitor has no output port for audio. any help ????

You will need to connect a set of speakers to your display’s audio port.
