Did you try Messages/Preferences/Accounts/Start new conversations from?
For the phone number, you need to change the number on your Apple ID. After the change, allow up to 24 hours for the change to sync. Before trying to make the change, sign out of Messages/FaceTime.

If you go to settings, messages and then ‘send & receive’, do you see other e-mail addresses? If so then that’s where you can change it to another address.
i did that but no phone number showed up just 2 email addresses but thank you for your time
that might work but i am on mac
i have had the same phone number fora about a year but it still doesent show up is it supposed to be the security number
Does the phone number show on your Apple ID? Have you tried signing out of Messages/FaceTime, restarting, and then signing back in?
it shows as the security number
If you add the number to Reachable at, then wait 24 hours for the changes to sync, see if signing out of Messages/FaceTime and back in adds the number.
