Safe Finder malware

Somehow safe finder has been downloaded my my MacBook Air, it keeps redirecting me through a bogus yahoo search. I have gone through all my applications and deletes anything suspicious. I went under my safari preferences and removed anything suspicious. I can't seem to get rid of it. The only thing I think of is to do a full reset but I am afraid that its saved somewhere that I can't find it and will be re downloaded.

Any other suggestions?

Hello stdunne1712,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with safe finder on your Mac.

I recommend by starting with Malwarebytes. There is a free option: Malwarebytes for Mac

Once you scan and remove threats, you can then restart your Mac: How to turn your Mac on or off - Apple Support

Then, if necessary, change your homepage and search engine in Safari. These two articles will help:

Change your homepage in Safari on Mac - Apple Support

Change Search preferences in Safari on Mac - Apple Support

Once you change your Safari settings, quit Safari using the word Safari next to the Apple > Quit and reopen it, or just restart the Mac. Thanks and have a wonderful day.
