Help! Back up gone wrong!

So today, May 2020, I turned my old Mac on to try to recover some old photos from when my 4 year old was a baby.

i connected my iPhone to it and it had some older backups, one from 2016. Without much thought I started to back up the phone with the older backup. Great I recovered the old photos BUT I didn’t have a back up for the current phone!!!

I tried everything My icloud was turned off I think - but there is no way I can find my ‘current’ backup anywhere! It there any way a ‘sneaky’ backup from today is stored somewhere?

  1. Have you ever imported your photos to Mac/PC --? Use Photos on your Mac - Apple Support OR Set up and use iCloud Photos on your Windows PC - Apple ...
  2. Have you ever uploaded them to any Drives (OnDrive, Drive, Flickr, DropBox) - Back up iPhone data with Google Drive - iPhone & iPad ...
  3. did you share this photo/video with anyone ask them
  4. did you upload it to Cloud Drives (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, OneDrive, DropBox, Flickr, box, AmazonDrive etc)
  5. did you import to Mac/PC
  6. did you share it with  Shared Albums 
  7. did you stream you photos

So you restored an old backup to your phone without backing up the current state first.


The Restore overwrote and replaced the contents of your phone If you don't have a backup of it in the state it was in prior to doing the restore that data is gone.

There is no place to recover it from.
