In Facetime, on Mac or iPad, how to change vertical window to horizontal?

How to change a vertical video window when using FaceTime, to horizontal.

iMac, OS X 10.11

On an iPad you should just have to rotate your iPad to horizontal view. If the FaceTime window doesn’t change, make sure you have screen rotation enabled.
