How to reset my iCloud account

What do you mean by reset? Did you forget them?

See if you can recover the ID/password.

For me, a reset of my iCloud account would be to empty it out, reset the storage, make it like I had never logged in.

That way, now that I restored my machine after iCloud nuked all my local files during the authorization of a new iPhone, I could reconnect to iCloud hopefully on better terms. As it stands now it will just blow away my original data again with what it thinks is the right version now in the cloud. So this becomes a dormant account instead.

You would think that would be a way but looking there now, there is no option to do that.

Not on the account settings page, nor on the data page of say the calendar which is one of the things giving me trouble. Restore options, but no delete...

You can go to iCloud.com using a computer browser and delete all the existing data that is there.
