Bought iPhine SE. old phone was iPhone 7. Transfering data failed. can i reset the SE and start over?

NO apps are moved by the migration process. Only system and app data are transferred. After that step the process downloads the apps to the new phone from the app store. But you have to leave the phone connected and wait for that to finish, which can take a while depending on your connection speed.

Also, sensitive data (health data and passwords) are not restored from a backup unless the backup was encrypted or you restored from an iCloud backup (which is always encrypted).

If you have “ghost” images of the missing apps on the screen you can go to the App Store, tap on your icon in the upper right, then Purchased, My Purchases, Not on this phone, and download the missing ones.

Or to start over completely just restore the phone to factory settings—>Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

Yes, as long as you have the iPhone 7 or a backup of it you can reset the SE and start over.

Thanks. I cancelled the ‘never ending’ phone to phone transfer and reran the process using the iCloud option. It worked great!

I’m having same problem. Bought a new iPhone SE yesterday. Started transfer from iPhone 6+ yesterday afternoon. Transfer still running this morning and showing about 5% complete, no progress since last night. Not sure what to do now.

You don’t sync mailboxes between phones. You sync mailboxes from the mail server. If both phones are connecting to the same server when you add the email account to the new phone the mailboxes will appear as if by magic. Go to Settings/Passwords & Accounts, tap Add Account and enter the parameters for the account you want to sync to the server.

Upgraded my iPhone 4S to my iPhone 7. How do I get all my: music, phone numbers, Podcasts, notes, reminders and whatever else to my new iPhone? One has 64 pin charge cord and the other has lightening charge cord. Tired of doing it manually. A real downer. Now I’m at Tim Hortons sipping green tea with honey and I’m not able to text my friend because I forgot to transfer his number.
