1. Start up from macOS Recovery

To start up from macOS Recovery, turn on your Mac and immediately press and hold one of the following combinations on your keyboard. Command-R is generally recommended, especially if you never installed macOS Sierra 10.12.4 or later… https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904#notupdated

Command (⌘)-R

Install the latest macOS that was installed on your Mac.

Option-⌘-R

Upgrade to the latest macOS compatible with your Mac.

Shift-Option-⌘-R

Install the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available.

Guess you are looking to upgrade your mac to a newer OS.

The model and year of your Mac will determine which macOS you can upgrade to,

please use Safari to access the following links,

How to upgrade to macOS Mojave - Apple Support

How to upgrade to macOS High Sierra - Apple Support

How to upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support

Before upgrading make a full back up of your Mac.

Check that third party apps you use have updates available for the new OS.

https://roaringapps.com

Check that your printers/ scanners etc have updated drivers and software available for the new OS.

Connect your mac to your router via cable rather than rely on WiFi.

Do not use your mac while it is downloading

and do not use any other devices that share the same internet connection.

If you are considering upgrading to Catalina be warned that it does not support 32bit apps.

Your Mac is probably running 32bit apps and these will need to be updated to 64bit apps,

some updates may be free, some may be paid. Use this app to discover which apps you have

are 32bit, https://www.stclairsoft.com/Go64/. Once the list has been created you can then

contact the developers of the apps to see if they provide 64bit updates.

Well when I purchased it it had Mac Sierra I updated to high Sierra now I was trying to migrate two my two contacts I had on my system like I was on the admin account and I was also on a userAccount. I couldn’t migrate so I deleted one and it was the admin. So there was no way to get into admin settings every time I tried changing anything on my computer it said I had to be admin to do it but my admin account and credentials had been erased. So I got lost in the computer by the time I went threw all these routes I lost Mac and ended up with OS X that doesn’t have all the reqs to install HIGH Sierra
