Can you limit who can FaceTime you?

Is there any "security" mechanism to limit FaceTime calls to Friends & Relatives? Or can anyone who has your phone number or email FaceTime you? I think if there isn't Apple should definitely work on this because with all the emails and passwords being compromised these days, you could be receiving unwanted calls, perhaps some kind of sophisticated hacking even if you answered without realizing you don't recognize the number or caller.

Its still tedious blocking the number if you're smart enough to catch it.

Isn't this a decent suggestion or am I just paranoid?

Hello LightningMike,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you would like to limit who can contact you in the FaceTime app. To help with this, please see this Apple resource on how to block unwanted callers in the FaceTime app on an iPhone:

Thanks for replying, LightningMike, and that additional info, it really helps! The behavior you are describing seems to be possible in the Phone app per this Apple resource, but not in the FaceTime app:

Detect and block spam phone calls

If you are not able to get the behavior you are looking for in the FaceTime app and the "Silence Unknown Callers" option for the Phone app is the behavior you want for the FaceTime app, please leave feedback to Apple about this and contact Apple if you need any further assistance.

Actually, blocking someone once they’ve called you is understandable. But my question was whether you can _limit_ exactly who can FaceTime you. So if you only want FaceTime with your family. Was there a way you can stop ALL FaceTime calls except from their devices. And you wouldn’t get FaceTime calls from anyone else even if they had your contact info.

Responses this question are misreading it or being intentionally misleading. The OP (and many others of us) want to know how to block or limit Facetime to just specific contacts. I have this issue, too. I have hundreds of people in my contacts, and I am (mostly) happy to take their voice calls or their texts. I don't want to be reachable by Facetime at all except for specific contacts, such as family and close friends. The support article referenced is misleading, because it implies that you can block just Facetime. However, you block everything using the method described. I am getting tired of submitting this as a feature request every time a new version of IOS is released, and it is obvious from these forums and the large volume of discussion on the web that this is something people actually want.
