Its not directly referenced one way or another in the License Agreement, which means its allowed.

Anything not specifically prohibited is by definition permitted.

There's nothing "illegal" about intalling an unsupported OS on a Mac you own. There is no actual law that states you cannot install an unsupported OS on a computer. Hence cannot be illegal.

Its no different than installing Linux, or some other OS. Its just not supported by Apple, so they won't help you. That's as much as Apple is saying about it.

Its up to you, wether you want to go ahead with it or not.

Legal yes. Nothing illegal about it.

Permitted? Apple can't stop you if that's what you mean.

As you say there will be no support, and any issues you encounter are yours alone to resolve. You can't come back to these forums and ask for help if the computer no longer works.

Also no guarantee Mojave will run well or at all on that model. Mojave requires a Metal capable video card which the 2010 MBP does not have. And while there are ways out there to get it to run, there is no guarantee it will run "well".

But you are free to try.

Yes, I get that. What I don't get is why you would be asking hypothetically? So I just wanted to add the fact that it's not a good idea. Also, others may be interested in this topic who have more than a hypothetical interest.

Well I don't know in which sense it is hypothetical. You are welcome in all interests. Actually I just wanted to come to the point. I have stoped many things for this purpose i.e. legal illegal.
