Need to go back to Mojave but have never backed up disk

Hi, is it possible to go back to Mojave without using a time-machine backup? I have stupidly never backed up as i only tend to use the mac offline for audio recording and i like to keep it as pure as possible so was running really sweet. I decided to upgrade to Catalina a few days ago to try Premier Pro and now my MacBook is running very hot and quickly draining battery. I can no longer use my audio interface as it is not supported, and Logic keeps crashing.

I have tried to download Mojave again but as soon as the 6gb download finished and error message came up and nothing happened.

I desperately need to go back as this will end up costing me a lot of money, please tell me how I do it, i fear I am now left with a brick. I am happy to wipe everything and start again with Mojave if this is a possibilty?

The going back isn't the problem. It's going back with your data.

Anything stored in one of Apple's libraries will have to be exported from the library to an external drive, then re-imported to the old version library after reinstalling that OS.

Move all of your other files to the external drive, also.

You need to successfully download Mojave and create a bootable USB installer, or boot into Internet Recovery using cmd-option-shift-R to reinstall the OS that shipped on your Mac. You can then try to upgrade to Mojave from there.

Thank you for this, I'm going to try it now. I only really use Logic so this process should be fairly straightforward.
