Home screen button not working, phone gets hot frequently.

Sounds like your phone is damaged and is in need of being seen by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. It doesn't really matter whether anyone else has had this happen. If the home button is broken and the phone is getting hot a lot, it's not well.
