I keep getting messages on my iPhone that give me a verification code that says "Your Messenger verifiation code is G-0*****", and i did not initiate any action that would requrie a verification code.

I also get a message saying that Google is verifying your number for Chat features and a number.

Why do I get these and what do they mean? Has someone initiated an action on my phone or apple account that requires a verification?

This is very disconcerting, as I am "older" and don't understand why I continue to get these.

I'm not sure if this is an iPhone question, an apple ID question or an i cloud question.

Thanks

iPhone SE, iOS 13

Someone may be trying to hack into your Google or gmail account. As long as you don’t respond to that message they can’t succeed. If you don’t have 2 factor authentication on your Google login you should consider adding it. See this Google help article: https://www.google.com/landing/2step/#tab=how-it-works

Although it sounds like you have it already. That’s why you are getting those alerts.
