Importing Custom LUTs

Hi, all:

I'm trying to figure out how to import and then access custom LUTs. The tutorial online suggests that there are steps which I don't see. Perhaps I'm missing something? Those steps are below:

But this is what I see from my view:

There is no mention of a Custom LUT section in the Inspector section.

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.15

One of these days I'll get this right first try.

I don't see any selectable LUTs in my folder -- of which there are many, I assure you. What am I missing? The files are of a compatible file type, I believe.

Also, is there no way to import entire folders full of LUTs? Must they be imported individually in connection with clips? That doesn't seem very efficient on the part of Apple (but then again, I'm not too surprised). Is there a way to do this globally by importing LUTs as if they were a type of media?

Thanks!

Thanks, Tom.

A slight extension of the above question. In regards to plug-ins in general, is there the process of installation the same? How are plug-ins intended to be accessed within the program?

I'm finding videos that suggest using a roundabout method of copying and pasting the plug-in into the appropriate systems folder within Final Cut or Motion. Is this ideal?

Is there one best practice? Or does it differ according to plug-in?

For example, here's an adjustment layer plug-in I found: https://sellfy.com/10154417130356796/p/Nxcc/. Quite confusingly, it seems to be for Final Cut Pro and yet the instructions suggest installing it within Motion. Is there a reason for this?

And here's another one: https://www.motionvfx.com/page/minstaller.html. It's not clear to me what to do with the plug-in after it's been installed. Once again, is there a best practice or does this change depending on vendor and coding and utility?

Thanks!

Some plugins come with installers and load into system locations. Generally plugins are manually installed in Motion Templates in the Movies folder. All that I've ever seen get accessed from from the various browsers, effects, transitions, titles, generators.

The adjustment layer web page says install in Motion Templates. This is the typical folder structure inside Movies.:

One other factor is the folder names, which depends on whether or not your have the Motion application installed. If you have Motion, you just load them as above. If you don't have Motion you have to add the extension .localized to the Motion Templates folder and to each of the browser name folders you use, Effects, Generators, Titles, and Transitions. The further embedded folders, like the category folder and the plugin folder, don't need to be .localized. Any plugin using this structure has to be in a category folder, either a custom named category or an existing category.
