Macbook Pro (15in, 2018 Catalina): Caps lock light stuck, whole keyboard is rendered unusable.

This is my work laptop, I have noticed that ever since I have updated to Catalina, I have this issue whereby sometimes when I am using the laptop halfway, my caps lock key will be stuck and I can no longer use any keys on the keyboard. Since its the touch-bar version, the touch-bar is still useable. If I connect an external keyboard AFTER the keys get jammed, I can still use the external keyboard. However, if the external keyboard was already connected when this issue occurs both keyboards will be stuck and I have to use my mouse to manually save everything and restart the computer. The issue resolves itself on a restart. I only seem to be able to find other questions where people's keyboards are stuck in caps but they can still type with caps. Wondering if any professionals know the cause to this - it has only happened after I updated to Catalina. It's hard for me to reach out to my IT help desk due to the Covid-19 situation, so it would be great if I can fix it myself.

You are limited to Trying resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

and if no resolve resetting the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

You can test with an external keyboard by comparison to help narrow down the issue.

To trouble shoot further you can:

—Try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

Takes noticeable longer to get to the login screen, does a 5-15 minute disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc. Login and test. Reboot and test as caches get rebuilt.

In Safe mode third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled, it removes malware, etc hampering smooth operation, however a reboot will put it back to normal mode.

This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account  https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204443

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.
