Cannot change text color in Mac Notes app

Cannot change text color in Mac Notes app.

The Format/Font/View Colors doesn't bring anything up.

Suggestions?

Solved. The "View Colors" window was opened BENEATH another window for some reason, so I could not view. Seems like a crazy approach
