Why am I unable to update my OS software?

Why am I unable to update my OS software? Every time I try i\to do this, my computer says to restart and then I'm still unable to update. Can anyone help?

You need more free space on your drive. At least 15GBs, 20GBs to be safe.

What Mac do you have, what year, what version of macOS, how much free space on your drive?

I have a MacBook Air (early 2015) 13 inch display. I have Catalina 10.15.3. I have 10.29 GB available.
