INCORRECT “iCloud storage is full” message

An inaccurate “iCloud storage is full” pop-up message (over 2 GB still available) is still appearing every 6 MINUTES(!) when I type something in Notes on my iPad mini. (See image below.) When I close the pop-up, it takes me back to the beginning (or occasionally the end) of the note instead of leaving me at the place I left off.  When editing the middle part of a long note, I have to do a lot of searching to find my place... and then it does the same thing again a few minutes later. I use Notes more than anything else on my iPad, and I will never buy another Apple tablet until this is FIXED!

This is clearly a way to try to force Apple users into buying something they don’t need, but many complaints say buying more storage doesn’t stop the pop-up.

There have been hundreds of complaints about this problems dating back to at least 2015

  1. Why has Apple not yet solved this problem?
  2. More importantly, why has Apple Support not answered any of these complaints in OVER FIVE YEARS?!! This is NOT “support.”

Hello Becky Bear and welcome to Apple Support Communities.

I see you are facing some difficulty with messages about your iCloud Storage being full when that is not the case.

Some users facing similar issues have reported that signing out of their Apple ID (Settings > [your name] > Sign Out), rebooting the device and then signing back in will clear these types of error messages.

Cheers.

Hi, i_rina. Thanks for trying to help. Unfortunately, signing out of my Apple ID (by following the steps suggested above) removed all 587 Notes from my iPad. I can tell from my iPhone Notes that they’re still in iCloud, but I can’t access them on my iPad. Since Notes is the app I use the most (every day), I’m devastated. I’ve lost years of documentation.

I was hopeful that iCloud would download the Notes back onto my iPad after I rebooted and signed back in, but after downloading only 16 of 35 folders, it seems to have stalled. Nothing more has happened in the last 4 hours. All of the downloaded folders are empty, so I still have no Notes.

I’ve searched the User Guide, but it doesn’t tell you how to recover data stored in iCloud, which makes it pretty useless as a backup storage plan. If you have any ideas on how to get my Notes from iCloud back onto my iPad, that would be great.

Again, I appreciate your trying to help with this problem. It’s not your fault that it didn’t work.

Cheers!
