Would have any problems if I travel to another country with a phone that’s USA based?

Hello! I have a question.

I have been living in the US for a few months and in the meanwhile I bought an iPhone, I’m about to travel to Costa Rica and I’m planning of staying there.

I was wondering if by traveling to another country with a phone that’s USA based I would have any problems like for example the phone been completely blocked or even unable of use

Use a different carrier SIM than the one you are using.

If it works, then it's not locked.

If you are moving away, make sure your iPhone is not locked to a U.S. carrier.

If it is, you will not be able to use it in Costa Rica.

If you need warranty work, or need to to an out-of-warranty replacement, you will have to return to the US.
