Catalina : Grayscale and Inverted colors at the same time

If anyone else is looking for how to do inverted colors AND grayscale on Catalina (i.e. Inverted Grayscale): the Accessibility display options weren't letting me select both like I used to in 10.13.

Turning on grayscale on would turn off inverted colors, and vice versa.

An amazing technician in the Apple's Accessibility division helped find this workaround (no code/script needed) today, I wanted to share in case it helps you too! Im on a 2020 macbook air.

  1. Set an Accessibility Shortcut to toggle Grayscale on and off with three touches of Touch ID. (the on/off key)

System preferences>>Accessibility>>Shortcuts

select Grayscale

2. Set a Keyboard Shortcut to toggle Inverted Colors

System preferences>>Keyboard>>Accessibility

Note what the keystroke code is for Inverted colors. On mine its control+option+command+8

For me it works when I turn on Grayscale FIRST using the three touches, and then turn on Inverted colors SECOND. (For whatever reason the order seems to matter, doesn't work in reverse order).

Hope this helps someone!
