I’m somewhat skeptical that this is a scam.

Is this iPhone new to you, or did you acquire this directly from Apple or an authorized reseller?

If this iPhone is associated with a different user, there’ll be issues with updates.

Is it possible that somebody else installed WhatsApp on your iPhone? If so, then you either need that Apple ID and password, or you can delete WhatsApp, and re-download it using your own Apple ID.

What happens when you try? Did you delete it and install it using your current ID?
