Proximity Sensor

When I pick up a call and place the phone near my ear, the screen turns off for a sec and turns back on again. I am facing this issue with other iphones at home as well. Also when I press the lock button, the screen turns off for a sec and turns back on again. Is it a software update bug? I also tried installing a fresh copy of ios but the problem isin't solved.

Your problem seems to be in the "Raise to Wake" feature. You tell your phone to go dark by holding it up to your face or by pressing the Lock button, but a moment later Raise to Wake turns the screen right back on again. I have the same problem when I try to make my screen black in order to clean it.

I don't know if there is any sensitivity setting in your phone's Raise to Wake feature; there isn't in mine. But you can temporarily disable Raise to Wake in Settings | Display & Brightness in order to confirm or disprove my hypothesis.

Good luck.

It is not a software bug and I am no sure what you mean by a "fresh copy". How did you do that? Is your iPhone Jail broken?

I have iPhone 4S iOS 9.3.6, iPhone 6 12.4.6, iPhone SE iOS 13.4.1, iPhone 8 iOS 13.4.1 and an iPad Pro iPadOS 13.4.1. Prior to that I had iPhone 3GS which is not working any more.

I have been updating all these devices whenever a new iOS is released. I have never encountered any issue whatsoever after any update because I have never downloaded anything over internet directly. Always used apps from App Store only.
