iPhone 11 Slow loading until control center is revealed.

Hello there,

I have been experiencing a weird bug I think, in many apps that I use like Safari, instagram, Facebook and even mail. Whenever I go to activate a page refresh or go to head to another page, the app will load very slowly or not at all until I pull down my control center. After I pull down the control center or even pull down to reveal the time, what ever app I am using will then quickly load up.

I am having to pull down in order for apps to load quicker. Same goes to game apps as well. As I am often deemed unable to load until I pull down.

13.4.1 , Sprint.

Any thoughts?

iPhone 11

I was having this exact same issue on my XS Max—browsers and apps randomly stuck “thinking” until I opened the control center. I would see them immediately load in the background and close it again, and then repeat this process an annoying amount of times whenever I tried to use my home wifi. On my data I never had the issue, so I usually just stayed on there, but finally I decided it was ridiculous that I was avoiding the high speed Internet I was paying for on one of my most used devices and called Apple support.

As expected, they were as confused as I was. We went through all the basics: diagnostics, resets, checking speeds and other devices on the network, etc. but nothing helped or revealed any answers. Finally I was connected to an admin, who made some suggestions about my wifi settings. I logged into my router and ended up switching the channels of both my 2.4 and 5 GHz bands to ones with the least amount of congestion, and I also split them (that is, gave them each a unique SSID) so I could connect exclusively to the 5 GHz wifi. I didn’t do it thinking it would help my issue, I just had been meaning to make those changes for awhile to give my internet speeds a little boost.

Ever since I changed those channels and connected exclusively to the 5GHz wifi, I haven’t had any problems! I don’t wanna declare the problem solved quite yet, but it’s been hours and I haven’t had a single moment of lag. Since I made those changes at the same time I can’t say for sure which did the trick unfortunately, but I’m just happy to finally have working wifi on my phone.

TLDR: Try changing your home WiFi’s channels and/or splitting your 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. That’s assuming your problem exists on your home network; if it’s with all wifi, I have no idea, sorry!

It sounds like you're having an issue loading apps on your device. I recommend checking out this article with steps for How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and quit the apps running in the background. Once they're closed, Restart your iPhone and test to see if the issues are still going on.

I also suggest checking out this link to Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and be sure your iPhone is running the lates iOS version available.

Let me know the results and have an amazing day!

Do you all guys have AT&T home internet? I found these threads that say the issue might be iphone's compatibility with AT&T routers.

I also have AT&T router and have this issue. However, when I go to my friend's house (different internet provider) my iphone works fine!

Hey there,

Since the day I made this post I happened to move house. This led me to believe it had to do with a tangle between Data, WiFi and the amount of users/devices connected to the WiFi.

Recently updated to 13.5.1 and I am now using Google Chrome web browser from the App Store. I don’t plan on using Safari again.

All these little things along with digging into my iCloud and phone app storage to clear up old unneeded things helped.

Hey thanks for the follow up response.

This issue is pretty consistent for me. I’m genuinely surprised there aren’t more people on the internet with this issue. I may have found two other posts similar to this, detailing the issue but with different phrasing.

I’m at the point where I’m swiping down the control center with *almost every single* button click, form submission, page load, and app load.

I reset network settings, and it appeared to have helped a little, but the issue is still there. Chrome and safari are both giving me issues, including others.

Hope Apple fixes this soon.

I have the exact same issue on iPhone XS, and previously on my 8+. Also spanned several versions of iOS. Any time I "ask" the phone to do something (open a webpage, load content, sign in to something, make a purchase, etc.) it gets stuck performing the function. For example, if I'm scrolling through photos on Instagram, only a few photos will load and the app will indicate that it's trying to load more. But if I swipe the control center down and right back up, the next batch of photos will load immediately. Same thing when submitting a purchase on Amazon. The phone will get stuck "thinking" about it, but as soon as I swipe down and up the purchase goes through. This happens in basically every app I use. At first I thought maybe it was a slow wifi problem, but it happens on LTE as well. I'm so accustomed to using this trick now it's basically become second nature, but it's super annoying having to do it ALL THE TIME.

Also, as a side note, it's such an oddly specific problem it took a little trial and error to figure out exactly what to search for. So I'm glad I found this thread. Now I'm really hoping iOS 14 fixes it, because 13 sure the heck didn't.

I can’t believe the og post is from May 2020 and I’m replying in January 2021 and Apple still hasn’t fixed this problem. This happens to my boyfriend and I, different phones (iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 Max, different phone (T-mobile and Verizon), both updated and Starry internet.

We have to swipe to the control center for anything to load in all apps (Safari, Instagram, Amazon, etc.).
