You would be best advised to ensure that you have either a current iCloud or iTunes backup of the iPad - and when you have, you should restore the iPad to factory settings.
This restore process will erase all data from the iPad, reset all settings and, crucially, reinstall a fresh copy of iPadOS on the iPad. At conclusion of the restore process, you can optionally restore your locally stored data from the iCloud/iTunes backup.
