Can I use an adaptor to connect my plug in DVD player to my 10.2 7th generation iPad?

Using a lightning to usb adapter with my ipad hi all I have an apple ipad 5th generation. I can see on the apple store ( and elsewhere ) that you can buy a lightning to usb adapter unit. If I buy one would I be able to add a usb stick to the adapter and watch video/tv that is stord on the usb on my ipad ? I spoke to apple customer care and they said NO I typed with apple customer care and they said YES If the answer is yes..how do I find the adapter on my ipad ??

Sorry, no, your iPad does not support connection to Optical Media drives - such as CD, DVD or Bluray.
