iCloud back up didn’t work?

So, I backed up my phone 2 days ago on iCloud and then erased it.

Photos was turned on in iCloud settings so I assumed they would be backed up onto iCloud.

When I went to restore my phone from ICloud I’m missing a years worth of my photos and they are not on iCloud either.

Just lost a years worth of pictures

went to apple support and they told me when I back up it doesn’t back up photos ??

there was nothing they could do even though I followed the correct steps

That screenshot you posted me you were syncing to icloud Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support and not backing up, and when you sync to icloud it is not part of the back up What does iCloud back up? - Apple Support
