Reset passcode
I need to reset passcode on iPad but it keeps saying it’s wrong passcode. I am able to log in using face recognition only

If you forgot your pass code, you will need to erase your device.
So in your case I would start by making sure you have a backup of the iPad.
Follow the steps in this article:
If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support
If you have a backup you can restore it from that
