Blocking Google Search

Is it possible to block all of Google Search even if that means blocking Google in its entirety. I am trying to block search images in particular in order to block inappropriate images, but that seems to be impossible. I have tried everything. I cannot manage a complete block when I am on a 4G connection.

I tried blocking google.com, but then google.co.uk, for example, still works. There seem to be so many Google extensions for different countries that it is going to be a chore, if it is possible at all to block them all. If there is not a way of doing this simply, then I will need to find a list of all Google extensions (.com, .co.uk, etc) that will allow me to block Google Search.

For other searches, such as Yahoo, Bing etc, there seems to be no problem blocking them regarding image searches, but Google is a nightmare. Even if I block browsers, there seems to be a plethora of apps with in-app browsers that seem to allow a skilled child to access a Google search and find images that I don't want my own child to see.

Can anyone offer any suggestions here short of only having a whitelist of allowed sites?

Hello there zlick45,

It sounds as though you're looking to implement restrictions that would restrict access to sites such as Google, but allow access to others sites.

Here is a resource that can help:

Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Specifically, the Prevent web content section can be configured to allow only certain websites to be accessed which may be helpful.

Have a great day!

I have already tried using Parental Controls. In the end, I had to get a list of all Google domains and block them, as well as adding all search engines except Baidu, which allows no unsuitable imaged. Also, I set Baidu as the default search engine on Safari and Google Chrome. It seems to have done the trick. Nothing every gets through that is unsuitable although not having Google is a bit of a pain.

That only partially works and there are several workarounds. For example, using an in-app browser in Facebook and finding your way to Google Search will completely circumvent Safe Search. If only Apple didn't box their apps and prevent accountability apps from seeing what app users are doing. Then I would have no problem. Moving onto Samsung next year so that the accountability app my family uses will be able to be used fully.
