AirPods not giving sound

I had this same problem with my right airpod and was given a new one. Now my left airpod is having the same problem but worse. My right airpod was muffled and everyone around me heard my music instead of me even though it was connected. Now, my left airpod is muffled and all of the apple tips I have used made it worse. I cleaned the earpiece with a soft q-tip and reset the AirPods. and now there is no sound at all even though the sound is all the way up on my device. What should I do?
