MacBook not accepting my password

Hi,

This morning upon opening my MacBook Pro I was met with the usual user login screen. I inputted my password but it keeps telling me the password is incorrect. I have tried inputting my password using different input sources, but nothing seems to budge.

Furthermore, I tried to use the Command+R shortcut recommended elsewhere on the Web but was then met with a black screen with only my mouse pointer.

Is there any way I can get back into my computer?

Thanks

MacBook

Make sure the Caps Lock is not enabled.

Try using an external USB keyboard to enter your password in case the built-in keyboard has an issue.

Try running the Apple Diagnostics.

Try booting into Safe Mode.
