Apple DVD Super Drive
will the Apple DVD Super Drive work with a 2019 MacBook Pro 13"? If not is there a DVD read/write that does work?

I used a SuperDrive with a 2019 13 in MBP 2-USB-C ports and it worked fine with a generic adapter, then it didn't. I have no reason it shouldn't have, but the drive just clicks back and forth when plugged into the Mac, even when the MBP is plugged into power adapter. It acts like it isn't getting enough power to spin the drive and fully load the DVD. I know the drive works because when I plug it into my iMAC USB2 port it's fine.
My suspicion is that the USBC adapter isn't allowing power transfer adequately.
I'd appreciate help from other forum members or Apple on this.
The Apple adapter referenced below is more bulky than I'd like, but may be the only solution.
