how can i cancel and order that i purchased earlier today?

While in Safari, click the bag in the upper right (shown at the right below). Then click “orders” from the drop down. Find and cancel your order.
Since you didn’t tell us, I assume you’re talking about something you purchased in the online Apple Store.
