Wrong video timestamp from android

Hi this is a solution rather than a question. I tried to reply to a thread but was unable as it was old.

I have been struggling with importing photos and videos from my android phone to Photos on my macbook using Androif File Transfer. The photos were fine but the videos were date stamped with the date of import rather than the creation date.

I managed to solve it by exporting the original videos to a folder on the macbook then reimporting those exported videos. They had the correct date when re-imported.

My 13 inch macbook pro is 11 years old (mid 2009) running El Capitan. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 phone.
