Logic Pro 10.5 update and MOTU 8282 Mk3 Firewire

Hey ppl. I'm currently still using Mojave OS 10.14.6, working smoothly with Logic Pro X, using MOTU 828 Mk3 Firewire audio interface, which is a 32 bit piece of beautiful hardware.

That's why I'm holding my horses about the Catalina OS update since it doesn't support 32 bits old hardware.

The question here is, does anyone knows if the new Logic Pro X update, the 10.5, will "talk" to the 32 bits old MOTU? My guess is yes, since the talking is made via the IOS, Mojave, that still speaks the language.

But I'm not at all sure.

In case anyone knows (for sure) if I can update to Logic 10.5, while keeping the Mojave (that I know I can - I just checked it), and expect the new Logic to "listen and talk" to my MOTU audio interface, I'd appreciate the input.

Thanks

Francis Mann

Yes, you are correct. If the OS sees your MOTU, Logic will see your MOTU.

You can also do an easy, no bridge-burning test. Seeing as you don't have to update your OS to run 10.5, make a copy of your current Logic app and put it somewhere else on your HD leaving the the one in your Applications folder intact. Rename the copy by annotating the version number on the end.

Update your Logic to 10.5.

Put the backup version back into the Application folder leaving the name with the annotated version. Yes, you now have 2 versions of Logic in your Applications folder and they'll both happily sit there and run. Play with 10.5. If there are bugs or issues that are show stoppers for you just quit it and boot your older version which will work exactly as it did before.

I have 3 versions of Logic on my test setup.
