Can't connect my iPhone to my MacBook Air

I've always had an issue with connecting an iPhone to my MacBook Air. I currently have an iPhone 11 Pro Max, and the only time I have been successful connecting my iPhone to my MacBook Air was when I first got it around 1 1/2 months ago. So the issue is when I try to connect my iPhone to my MacBook, the connection isn't stable. It goes from charging to not charging repeatedly. I've tried both USB ports and no luck.

One of my charging cables always produces the symptoms which you are describing.

Try a different cable.
