Using my up-to-date iPad, I tried to call a number in FaceTime and now I want to put a name on that number rather than remember who it was for. Note the number does NOT appear in Contacts

When you open FaceTime on the iPad, find the number listed in the left side where your recent calls are listed. Tap on the (i) to the right side, it should open a dialog for you to Create New Contact, Add to Existing Contact, etc. Use the Create New Contact selection and fill in the information you want.

The solution is to create a contact in Contacts - and assign an image.
