My brand new iPad keeps telling me to “Update Apple ID Settings”, so I put my password in and nothing happens

Yes. I’ve had the iPhone 8 Plus for about 1 1/2 years. The iPad Air is brand new. I’ve linked them together.. so both of them have the “Update Apple ID Settings” prompt that won’t go away. This is what happens: I click on the request.. it asks for my password... I type the PW in... I get a white screen with the spinning disc and the words “Updating Apple ID Settings” underneath. After the disc spins for about 35 seconds.... the screen goes back to the Settings page and the Update request is still there. (It also says “Some account services will not be available until you sign in again.” )


By restarting, I assume you mean powering down the device and turning it back on. And yes... I’ve done this multiple times for both the phone and the iPad Air. The red dot always returns. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Just a sidebar... this is my third iPad... and it’s definitely been the most difficult one to get up and working.
