Target display mode

Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) which I'd like to use as an external monitor, i.e target display mode. The iMac is a 27 Inch later, 2013 model. Both are running Catalina 10.15.4.

I have a Thunderbolt 1 to Thunderbolt 3 cable attached between the 2 but I can't get the macbook to "see" to external iMac. The command-f2 doesn't work and I'm never presented with the iMac as an external monitor.

Does anyone know exactly what cable I would need to use target display mode between these 2 machines.

Thanks in advance.

You can't use a mac with catalina in target display mode.

The iMac you want to use as a screen must be running High Sierra or earlier, and meet the rest of the requirements:
