Question: Can I pay Apple or a third party to extract photos from my Aperture vaults and Time Machine backups?

Can I pay Apple or a third party to extract photos from my Aperture vaults/Time Machine backups and then squirt them into my wife's iCloud account or return them for me to upload?

I tragically lost two years of photos in 2018 and attempted to do this myself about 60% success. All the Aperture photos seemed to export, but not nearly all of them imported after multiple attempts. I haven't tried the Time Machine backups, but don't think there is sufficient storage on her MacBook to even try. I have three hard drives with each having three to five vaults and one Time Capsule with two Time Machine backups.

I'm willing to pay what feels to me an exorbitant amount and give my story to a marketing department for free. Here are some bullets to pull on any heart strings:

  • I'm active duty military
  • The photos span eight moves over our 19 years of marriage
  • We've had a rough year, are doing much better now, and this would go a long way to right previous wrongs
  • Our eight year old daughter is a cancer survivor

Thanks for the possible help!

Hello BrewPilot

It sounds like you are attempting to move photos off of a Time Machine back up, correct?

Was the Time Machine back up erased or compromised?

Another place you might be able to check, would be iCloud and to see if your photos have been backed up: Sign in to iCloud

You can attempt to recover the photos from restoring the Time Machine back up: Restore items backed up with Time Machine on Mac

If there are storage issues on the Mac, use this article to help free up space: How to free up storage space on your Mac

You can Contact Apple Support for further help.

Hopefully this help!

Cheers!

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, two of the archives I'm trying to export from are Time Machine backups. They weren't erased or compromised, I just simply don't now have the disk storage to try.

As the photos didn't import, they aren't in iCloud and most of these archives predate that option.

Thank you for the links - hopefully someone will know of a third party,

Pat
