Question: My internal HD dissapeared!

My internal HD disappeared out of nowhere 1 night. The next day, my MacBook pro 2011 13" wouldn't turn on. Finally I got it to turn on, and I am using my cloned external drive currently to access my files. What do I do?

MacBook Pro 15", macOS 10.14

Hi EmptyAngelo_jak,

Thanks for your post! I see that all of a sudden you can no longer access your internal HD. Use this time to backup and save any important files, then start with attempting macOS Recovery.

Follow these steps:

Repair a storage device in Disk Utility on Mac

If these steps do not work, or you have already completed them, try erasing and reinstalling macOS:

How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery

If your MacBook Pro still does not recognize the drive, Contact Apple Support for diagnostics.

Let us know how that works out!

Take care!

PPP003—There may be an issue with the power adapter.

VDH002—There may be an issue with a storage device.
