how to track multiple devices using the same apple id

I need to be able to track my iPhone, iPad, and iPod all using the same Apple ID, but they are not showing up in “Find my” app. They automatically popped up when the app was called “find my iPhone” and I was signed into my Apple ID on each device. Now I can’t connect to anything but my iPhone. How to I add my other devices? I don’t want a different Apple ID for each one because I use all of them for messages, etc.

thank you,

karin
