Question: iMac retina 4K 21.5" SUPER SLOW, replaced TWICE

I got the latest, brand new (not refurbished or open box) iMac retina 4K 21.5" late April. Had to take it back to best buy and got a replacement. I returned that too, it is just TOO SLOW, and freezes all the time. I installed the Catalina OS on both, they came with Mojave.

Got that to end my lagging problems with my OLD HP windows 10 PC (about 5 years old) and most of the time, I had to use HP and it would respond quicker than than the 2 iMacs! I am looking at responses here and there is a lot of VERY SLOW posts on this computer. It is the retina version? should I get the other one without the retina instead? I am getting the replacement directly from apple today, 5/16/2020, what should i do?

Or should I forget about APPLE? I had the first generation of this all in one iMacs around 2007 and it worked just like the salesperson said. You could open an infinite number of windows browsers, videos and such, apps, etc and would not freeze.

What happened now when technology is supposed to be a lot better than 13 years ago???

Please advise!

iMac 21.5", macOS 10.15

It's a shame really, but The OS & internet is way too bloated these days.

I\d not buy a 21.5" iMac these days, but if you do avoid the i3 CPU, avoid the Fusion Drive or plan on getting an external SSD to boot from, & max out the RAM at 16 GB, which still is not enough these days, but the standard 8 GB is a laugh, & not a good laugh.

Thank you BDAqua! I got the money back from Best Buy already. I will try to get APPLE support to upgrade as a compensation for all this nonsense problems. The fact that you have to pay for add ups to make your mac work the way it should is really astonishing. I am speechless!

I did not Old Toad. I did not know I had to PAY more from its original price to get it to work fine. It just does not make any sense. If Apple can't give me the upgrades (16 GB RAM and 512 SSD drive) to compensate me for all this nonsense, I am getting a windows PC.
