apple pay app turning on by itself?

hi there! got a question today.

I generally find the Apple Pay app in my iphone on even though I turn it off--this setting changes by itself a lot! changing settings isnt working. Is my phone hacked?

i am because today I noticed a vendor's webpage in my browser and since i never heard of this vendor, i am positive i didn't visit this page.

i dont know if this is relevant info or not, but I have a couple of neighboors who use long range bluetooth that reaches inside my home no matter which room i am in the house.

Your help is appreciated!

  1. Can you clarify on what do you mean by finding your Apple Pay app ON? How do you turn it OFF? Just need to understand this better to be able to provide an answer to you.
  2. How do you believe the vendor's website ended up on your browser?
  3. There is no such thing as a long range bluetooth. What you are seeing in your house is your neighbor's WiFi network. That is normal if your two houses are close enough. Chances are that your neighbor also see your WiFi network in his/her house.

Note that, most probably, your iPhone is not hacked. Question - Do you share your Apple ID with anyone else in your household?

hello Axel! thank you for taking the time to answer my silly questions. I meant to say the "wallet" app turns on by itself. i use both terminology interchangeably because i dont use it--although i keep seeing it on.

No, i don't share myiphone, my account, etc--as far as I know.

I believe that what I see isn't Wifi but bluetooth. I even downloaded two bluetooth discovery apps to day check it out. here are screen shots of what their show.

Thank you again Axel. To answer your questions; it is a house, it is an iphone7 (purchased reconditioned from a 3rd party seller and not from an Apple store), and with current updates, as itappears. the 2 apps--downloaded from Apple--are pictured below. The wifi names i see in my apple are totally different from the bluetooth names given by the apps so my original comment about "long range bluetooth." one apphas placed ranges from 37 to 60 ft depending where i am in the house.

Hello,

I saw your pictures that you posted above. A bluetooth signal travels about 30 feet in ideal conditions. How close are your neighbors? Do you live in an apartment by any chance?

The other thing is that the pictures tell me that you are using an app that detects and informs connectivity signals. Perhaps bluetooth or WiFI or both. Which app is it? Finally to address your Wallet App issue, which iPhone and iOS version are you using?

Thanks for posting the pictures and more information on those apps. I read up on what they do and how they function. These apps detect connectivity signals and used for locating bluetooth signal emitting devices. OK Good. This, however, has nothing to do with your initial concern about Apple Pay - Wallet app opening up on its own. So, let's focus on that. Your iPhone is not hacked.

You have an iPhone 7. On that iPhone Apple Pay can be manually activated by double pressing the home button (Pressing the home button twice in rapid succession). Are you having any problems with your home button by any chance? Do you often find the Apple Pay - Wallet app open when you pull the iPhone out of your pocket? These are signs of a possibly failing home button.
