I have an Ipad Mini i think it is first generation and has no apple pencil, it runs on 9.3.6 and says it is up to date can I use sidecar in it? I have a Macbook Pro 2019 tas i am sure is compatible with sidecar I just don't know with the ipad mini

That iPad is far too old and it is an old iPad that cannot make use of the Apple Pencil, either.
You need a much, MUCH newer or new, Apple Pencil compatible iPad to use the Apple Sidecar feature.
