Zoom and AirPods on MacBook Pro

My AirPods weren't working with Zoom meetings. UNTIL I went into Zoom Audio Settings and selected AirPods. Cant connect from the normal audio settings on MacBook. Have to do it from within Zoom.

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.13

Yes - in Zoom there are audio options and when I changed to Apple AirPods instead of my computer speaker, I could hear the Zoom meeting with the AirPods. Down at the bottom of screen.
