Peak Pro 7 by Bias-Inc (defunct) crashing but Peak Express 7 trial version works fine - Both on Mojave 10.14.6

Peak Pro XT Studio 7 by Bias-Inc (a defunct company with no support) is one of my favorite Mac programs. It was working with prior versions MacOS (Mojave et al) until I upgraded to Mojave 10.14.6. I need to use the new Logic 10.5 which requires MacOS 10.14.6.

I am an audio editor and use this program daily. Please help.

Here is the summary crash log.

Hi Mastermix.

I've had Peak Pro 6 XT since about 2009. Being more of a tracking engineer and mixer my needs for the application was infrequent but I found it continued to work over the years after Bias went out of business. I'm now on Mojave 10.14.6 and find it still works for me. Every now and again I run into a problem like I did today when for some reason the preference menu will not allow me to setup a proper scratch disk. That's definitely a problem but the application does run most the time. I've considered upgrading to 7 which is still available but I've been concerned that I shouldn't rock the boat considering 6 was working for me. I don't actually have any ideas for your situation but thought my story might add some perspective. Good luck!

Hi there mastermix,

It sounds as though the Peak Pro XT Studio 7 application is crashing during the startup process. If that sounds correct, below is a resource that can help:

Peak Studio XT 7 (Legacy 32-bit)

Within this resource it lists "Mac OS 10.5 or higher (note OS 10.15 and 11 are incompatible, 10.12 and 10.13 are working)." Support for macOS Mojave 10.14.6 isn't listed.

I hope this helps,

Have a great day!

@Jameson_H

Thanks for your response.

The weird thing is that, Peak 7 was working working fine on macOS 10.14.6 (Mojave) until recently. I dunno know what caused the app to break.

Peak Express 7 works fine on the same system. Strange. I guess I have to find another computer (refurbished?) and downgrade to Sierra or something. I need Peak 7 for my work.

Bummer.

mastermix,

Thank you for replying back!

Using macOS recovery, this can be used to reinstall the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available. Here is a resource below that can help:

How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery

Please note, the steps in the above resource may result in data loss and creating a backup would be advised. Here is a resource below that can assist with creating a backup:

Have a great day!
