Is there a way to know how old my Apple TV 3rd generation is? Like what year I bought it?
The 3rd gen was released in 2012 and that would be the age of the hardware. The unit itself was discontinued in 2016, so anything bought after that time would have already been used. Any warranty would have long since expired.
You can look on the main support page and you should find a link that will tell you the warranty coverage. You can use that information as a guide.
Donno if it will work with your Apple TV (and FWIW Apple is reportedly moving to random serial numbers starting for products arriving in 2021), but see if the date decoded from the fourth and fifth characters of your Apple TV serial number make sense, using this scheme:
