Not receiving Ask to Buy notifcations on my iPad

I have set the ask to buy function for family sharing so my son can request to download from his iPad. He is able to “ask” but I do not receive the request/notification on my iPad. I have tried the following already from what I’ve read on the forum:

  • did a hard reset of both iPads
  • signed out of AppStore on both devices and back in
  • checked that notifications in my settings were enabled
  • made sure Do not disturb wasn’t set in settings
  • made sure Apple ID was the same in AppStore and settings
  • signed into Apple account online to see if notifications went there


I may have tried a few other things as well but have lost track of everything I’ve tried. Nothing seems to have worked. Could it be because my AppleID is my Gmail account?


Any other suggestions of what to try. This has been very frustrating and shouldn’t be this difficult!!!
