I'm planning to buy a MacBook Pro, but I'm wondering if buying it pre-installed will allow me to transfer it to a new Mac whenever I have to upgrade, or if I have to buy it straight from the app store to be able to do that
You'll need to go into the Mac App Store, click on the Purchases tab, and accept it into your Apple ID; this step is also necessary before any updates to it can be installed.
